Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but fragile characters, is one of the most well-known American actors of the present. Her father was a renowned playwright. However, Linney was raised as a single child by a single mom who was a nurse. During the summers, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for the theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. When she graduated from Brown University, she started her Broadway debut shortly thereafter. Within two years of that, her first film was released and the next year her TV debut. In the years since, she's been in many films, TV shows and stage performances. She received many accolades throughout her career which included several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Yet, despite all the awards she has received acting has been her primary passion and she has continued to appear both on stage and screen.
